Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is one of the world’s rarest disease’s affecting just over 1 in a  million  women.  It seems only about 300 people in the USA have been diagnosed with this lung disease and about 60 in the U.K.  The cause of LAM is unknown and there is currently no cure.  LAM is a progressive disease mainly affecting the lungs where it causes an overgrowth of a certain type of cell around the airways, blood vessels and lymph vessels.  The cells also lead to cysts which also take up space in the lungs
