March 2007

Thursday 22nd March

Well I feel absolutely fantastic...just don't understand why my lung function has started to dip slightly again. If it drops too much, then I will have to ring Harefield...and may have to go back in. This is just a never ending story!!

But good news...I have started my street dance classes again, and last night the teacher asked me to partake in a talent competition in a group performing a hip-hop routine. But to be honest..I don't know if I'm ready or my levels of cardio are at its peak to perform?? The competition is in 3 weeks time aswell...gulp..advise please??

Simply a short note for now...as I haven't popped a message on in a while.

Keep smiling. xx

Tuesday 13th March

Just a little post - to say all is going well at the moment - yippy! And that my lung function is stable...phew!

I am having a breather from campaigning as it has been non-stop over the last 2 years. However...only a short break...as I am working on ideas/future campaigns to help raise awareness and raise funds for Lam.

I am in the process of searching for a good photographer for assisting me a new project. If anyone is a professional photographer or knows someone who will help for a good cause..please get in contact with me as soon as possible - many thanks.

Also anyone who has contacts within the Media industry too - who would be willing to join my plight - please get in touch too...Actors/Singers/Dancers/Comedians/TV Presenters/Artists/anyone really.....famous or just starting out. I have soooo many ideas and think it would be brilliant to collaborate. Also, anyone else who has been following my journey who may have some hidden talents that you think may assist me in anyway...please email me..many thanks!

I am also trying to get together a wish list of things that I would like to do/achieve in my 2nd chance of life. As you all may now know, recieving a transplant is purely an extension on my life. The average life expectancy is 5years....if you manage 5 years - there is a good chance that you will live for another 5-15 years. I believe the longest surviving lung transplant is 20 years, and heart 25 years. However, rejection can occur at any time - and many times too. I am more prone to chronic rejection - which is irreversable (due to problem I have with my anti-bodies)..and therefore I want to take life and life it to the max!

So...by writing a wish list, I hope if I share this with everyone - someone..somewhere...may be able to help me follow my dreams...and make me the happiest person alive whilst I have another chance on life. So...watch this space....and thanks again for all support I have had to date!

Keep well everyone - and have a great week. XX

Monday 5th March

Good Gwen Stefani pumping through my car on the way to hospital and back.."Woohoo...Yeeha..The Sweet Escape"....WoW!!!....I have 6 weeks off...WoW!!!..This is the longest period since my transplant that I have been allowed time off! Yippy! I feel like I am having a holiday...except that I am not in a foreign country relaxing on a beach or sight-seeing..he he! However, I must highlight..that if I notice a dip in my lung function whilst I do my tests at home..that this 6 week gap may be cut short. However, I remain very positive and I'm sure I will make this 'time out' period last!!

I would also like to mention about a wonderful evening I went to on Sunday (4th March) a comedy night in London to raise awareness on Donors and raising funds for a new post at Harefield Hospital (Donor Co-Ordinator) all organised by friends at the www.livelifethengivelife.com (website). Since my illness/transplant I have met/made many people with the illness Cystic Fibrosis and this website highlights CF/Organ Awareness. I also support greatly the work that they do and last year some of my media articles were also for this website too (on organ awareness).

The evening included comedians:- Bill Bailey, Rob Rouse, Dara O'Briain, Ian Stone, Geoff Whiting, and Glenn Wool. I have never laughed so much - what a fantastic night!! The after - party included Richard Madeley hosting an auction to help with funds. One of my paintings and a beauty hamper I made contributed to this auction. Thankyou to Dr David Bull (TV Presenter) who purchased my painting - enjoy! Lets hope that my Kodak disposable camera brings out some good photos - which I will get scanned and onto my website shortly.

From the evening I also met a guy named Oli who has been waiting nearly 2 years for a double lung transplant - and I so hope he gets his call soon too! I also met 2 girls - one who has had a liver transplant, and the other girl who has been waiting over one and a half years for a kidney!

So..we are now back to my 6 weeks break and driving back home listening to "The Sweet Escape" tune of Miss G. Stefani. I am feeling very happy after a fab Sunday, happy outcome Monday and also seeing my friend Emily doing so well post her double lung transplant today at Harefield. Plus, that some of my other friends who have been poorly are now on the mend.

Time is late now....11.13pm and time for my sleep. Happy days! Goodnight, and thank goodness too that my steriods are being reduced....so soon...no more Miss Incredible Hulkess. X
