hi justine;;; i dont know whether you remember me i emailed you quite some time ago; i am the ballet teacher with the son with lung and heart disorders; he is doing okay but his heart condition is getting worse, he was sleeping 15 - 20 hours in a 24 hour period so the drs have decided he needs oxygen at home; it feels like a step back but when i look at alex's lovely smiling face i know i will do anything for him! the 02 has definately improved the quality of his life, when he is awake he is really energetic so its good in the long run;
i have just spent an hour catching up on all your news; I am really shocked to hear your latest developments; i am so sorry that things are so tough for you at the moment; My thoughts are with you, i have everything crossed that a pair of lovely squiggy lungs come winging your way soon lots of love from me and a hug from alexander xx oh and by the way;;; after years of debating about whether to go on the donor list or not (mainly not from silly irrational fears of being harvested for my organs???!!!) you will be pleased to know that i have put my name on the list; your story has really moved me and I am disgusted with myself that i have not made this decision earlier (so if it comes to it you can have my lungs!!! can i stipulate that on the donor form? "to go to justine please"?!!!!!)

Hi Justine! We want you to know that we are all praying very very hard for your improvement here at Wells College in tiny Aurora, New York, and we are praying that you get your lungs; You are such an amazing person -- I cry when I read about all you have gone through and am just thinking, you must take this one day at a time; Take it one day at a time, and make every day count; I know that good things will happen in your future -- we are all rooting for you! Dear Justine,
Glad you have had a taste of whats to come, frappuchino's by the bucket load; A little treat can carry you an awful long way; Still missing you oodles and feeling quite homesick being away for Gav & Den's wedding; Nice to be around family but still would love to be a bit closer to blighty; I bought a pair of size twelve shoes in a charity shop for $4 today, i have an unexpected family wedding on Sat (no smart clothes in my backpack!); Still what a result to find a gargantuan pair of shoes for less than a pint of lager
A little poem 4 U -
Never a girl who ever Injustly moaned, A girl who knows how precious Minutes land; Joy In serendipity, that Justine Met Jon; Daily sun On hand to revitalize your spirit So roll on the happy day when, My lad Jon, unites With his resplendent fiancee;
Lines 2/4/6/9 are all anagrams of your name; You would not believe how many words and phrases come out of your name; 1000's; You must have one of the best scrabble names ever invented; I could not think of a suitable name - but I like

Hi Justine I came across your website when I was having a nose round the BLF site;Your story touched and humbled me;I have been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and am finding getting around more and more difficult,I am using O2 a lot more now;I have been told that due to my other health conditions(diabetes ect;) that I probably won't be suitable for a transplant but I am hoping they may have developed something to solve the problems that they cause by the time I need it; Keep your chin up,you are an inspiration, God bless you and your family; Luv Carol

As ever, we've got everything crossed that you will get your transplant soon;
Wishing you all the best, Love Marc X X

hey Justine,
Glad to read you are back on the up after a tricky weekend; Dont panic when things get tough again, its that horrible game of two steps forward one step back isnt it;
I got released on monday (YAY!); Things are much more back to normal, have been switched to oral antibiotics and antifungals from the IVs I was on, and am going back in three weeks to see how its all going;
So now I am home, I am mostly catching up on sleep (didnt sleep for more than 4 hours in hospital because of IV drip times) and then back to do some thorough work on my campaign! We wont have achieved enough till everyone I know waiting has received their transplant! You have to shoot for the stars dont you;;;
Keep on mending hon, and enjoying sips of gorgeous drinks! I am at Harefield on the 19th and might be able to wave through the window if you feel up to it?
Thinking of you :) xx

hi Justine,
I hope you are able to kick the infection into touch; I am sure the peeps at the Chelsmford gathering were thinking of you too my dear; Imagine how many parties will be held in your honour when your out; Oodles i bet!
Sorry for not being in touch for a few days but have relocated to brisbane to stay with family; A relief, not sure how messy your bedroom is back home but I was in a dormitory with two rude french/canandian girls; There toot was everywhere, the room stunk and looked like a bomb had hit it; So nice to have a bedroom again;
I will be in touch later today as I am just checking a few words in the library before putting the finishing touches to a little poem for you; I miss you immeasurably and you are with me in my heart every second of the day;

Dear Justine,
Glad to hear of your longest walk so far, good on you; No great words of wisdom that I can offer such an inspirational girl as yourself, especially in such trying times; Therefore a poem will have to suffice;
I can't belive I did not think of trying this sooner; Here is a poem in the aboriginal tongue for you:
Red Sky / Athetheke Palima by Oli
Mari dihlbi-dihlbi barga, Palirika budhabuyeh-alpi aakanak perkana tabra marra benang;
The spirit of the morning Sun Rises like a beautiful swallow Until it lights her new day;
If an aboriginal translated it, they would probably say my grammar stinks;
Still I hope a little ray of warmth comes your way today; I am thinking sunny (PMA) so it just may work;
All my love

Hey u, I log in every day & it makes me so happy to see you take those little steps of progression each day; You are a true fighter, an insparation & people like you will always reach their goal; Good to see you are able to get some 'solid' food into you, I can not even imagine how it is not to be able to have 'normal' food; I bet each little taster is like heaven! Just think, keep on going like that & they may let me bring in a Frappuccino for you! What size & flavour would you like eh? You are doing so well, please keep positive;

Hey Honey,
Glad to see you're feeling better and able to eat more; All that Jelly and ice cream, what it is to be a kid again eh ? Could you ask your dad or bro to send me their postal address in UK as I hear you can watch dvds in your room so I'm sending you some from australia; We've bought them along the way and there's some great movies; I won't tell you which ones here, but I'm sure knowing you a little you'll like them all;
Anyhow, best be off, got to wash and change for a big date tonight with an english nurse; After missing Ollie's company, food and banter, I've asked here out to see a band and for some food tonight; Must be something about nurses and uniforms eh ?
Toodle pip my lovely, and can you give jon a belated pinch, punch, first day of the month and no returns for me please; I'm a little gone past April 1st; Now who's the fool;
Lots of love, hugs and admiration as always

I am glad you have been speaking to someone;;;it doesnt matter how determined and tough you are, looking at all the possibilities is frightening; I sometimes describe the feeling as like being on a rolercoaster hurtling towards oblivion, desperate to just stop the ride but you cant get off;
While there is breath there is hope Justine; And you are just as likely to get a call tomorrow as you were on day one, that is the brilliance that you must cling on to; I had a friend whos call came literally just in time (days the docs said), no matter how far down the road we progress, there IS still hope and we must hold onto it; I am doing everything I can for both of us hon - believe that we will both be in the 50% that get it in time;;;
I am doing ok - had blood gases done today and the docs said for my lung func they are pretty good, yay! Am still hoping to finish my IVs and go home on monday;
Sending all the strong vibes I possibly can xx

Hey Justine
Sitting here eating a bowl of carrot & ginger soup; Really quite tasty; Slurping whilst I read on your progress and all your new additions; I am now almost starting to log in on a daily basis to read Olly's adventures as well as your own;
Its good that your eating again, and by the sounds of it, the food is good; I might have to pop round to your parents soon, just to get the plaice & white sauce;
The sun is shining these days and looking forward to my holiday in Italy; Going to search for a house; Did I tell you that?
My mum is going into hospital at the end of this month to have replacement knees, so doing the dutiful son thing and looking after her for a few days;
Big kisses you sexy minx;

Hi Justine, my lungs are really misbehaving themselves now and im very cross with them! I was in hospital yesterday and need to have a load more tests done soon, im really dreading them especailly cos its not been that long since David was in fighting for his life; But i keep thinking of you and know if you can do it, so can i; So im going to stop being a wimp even though i want to run away and hide!
But if i could, i would do anything possible to make us both better; But you are in the best hands there, i am here even though ive got the consultants stumped over my sarcoidosis;
Im thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed for you-know-what to happen very soon; love and hugs, Sarah x

Dear Justine,
You have so many cool mates; You friend Emily sounds like a winner as well; Considerate and doing loads of jazz for other people, bravo to the both of you;
Glad you are getting into some sort of routine, your own exercies bike heh! The list of foods have gone up aswell; Here is a litte food & drink style poem for you,
Called Either A) Enraptures her Senses b) Taste Sensation or C) Milkshakes Rock
Mellifluous Soup Glides down the gullet Like golden honey
Cool, Slushy milkshakes A blizzard of flavours Icing over your tongue
Cordial & Icecream The new champagne & caviar, Tickle her tastebuds
Now I could not decide on the last verse so have included both, choose whichever one you prefer:
Option A: All simple pleasures Oft taken for granted Enrapture her senses
Option B: All delightful pleasures Delicious & Delectable A true taste sensation
I have been in the library and although I like poems that rhyme this book says I must not always use this style, it maybe a constraint; So I am trying something new; I miss you oodles and I am so glad you have written some diary entires; Shaddybone for now my sweet;
Luck, Love and Thursday hugs

hey Justine,
Yay my own little message in your diary! See even when you are fighting so hard you are thinking of others;;;; I so wish I could make that bleeper go off this second and they would have found some lungs for you, but it will happen, we both have to stay positive and resolute in that fact; To anyone reading this I have been campaigning hard (following Justine's example) to help raise awareness of people like Justine and myself's plight - if you want to help please look at www;livelifethengivelife;co;uk (I hope it is ok for me to put that address here webmaster please delete it if not, I am just so desperate to do something to help); The chronic shortage of organ donors in the UK is continuing and increasing and we need to publicise this as much as we can;
OK campaigning hat off now! Really good to hear you are eating bits and pieces, I usually go for the chocolate build up myself, havent tried the strawberry one I must admit! The docs are pleased with my progress, my lung function is back up to 22% (was 16% when I came in, small rodent type figures hehe) and so I am hoping to escape some time next week;
I dont think there is much else interesting I can tell you;;;;the campaign is all going well, we got a mention in OK magazine! (did I already tell you that?!) and we are just pushing to get as much coverage as possible; I am still on IVs which is what is keeping me in here really, as I am attached to the drip most of the day and I think I would be too tired to do it at home myself;
You have really been through the mill these last months; what you must take from this is it is a demonstration of how tough your body is, (let alone your strength of mind); Just think, after this, recovering from a major transplant operation will be a breeze ;)
Thinking of you;;;wish I had more interesting news to write! Stay strong and positive, take it day by day, you are doing so amazingly well; xx

Hey u, Just doin one of my regular checks on you! So good to hear that you are keeping strong, back on the transplant list, and slowly improving each day; Keep positive and you will reach that ultimate goal; Well, as you know, I am a triathlete now and enter lots of races; I have one coming up soon & decided to get in contact with LAM action, so to cut a long story short, I am running in aid of LAM; You are my inspiration and I will do whatever I can to help; Every race that I enter will be in aid of LAM so hopefully I can do some good!? Hey Justine - I bet mashed potatoes never tasted so good, huh? Bring on the champagne and the caviar; Listen -do you feel up to doing anything creative? Remember the idea we had a while ago on the lam line of designing matching O2 tote bags and accessories? Once you feel up to it, maybe you could scribble down a few doodles (in between designing wedding dresses and the like!) and then we could auction off the finished product in Nottingham; Anyway, am thrilled that you're on the mend and am praying and hoping that this time next year you'll have all of this far behind you and will be settling down to a life of domestic bliss with your one and only; Keep up the good work! Dear Justine,
Mash potato and soup, what a winner! Super, smashing great to read another diary entry; Your fortitude can only be admired; We ALL really hope you are one of the lucky ones and rec; your transplant as soon as poss; You'll have to get Kohny to get the old connect 4, battleships, backgammon and scrabble out when your up to it; He's a bit of daddy but I am sure with time on your hands, you could take him to the cleaners;
I remember when I came out of GOS I used to be seriously hooked on Lentil soup followed by a kit-kat and glass of milk; I had a home tutor in the morning, followed by lunch with Grandpa Renier, followed by an afternoon of watching the horse racing;
See you later alligator and keep on truckin';
your compadre,

Hola mi amiga!
Sorry you haven't heard from me in a while; As Oli has said the town he is in Rockhampton is a real ghost town; I am now in melbourne 2021kms south of Oli where I will be visiting my spanish cousin who lives here now before seeing Ollie again in June; Missed his moaning about my driving on the boring trip down here; The only interesting points of the trip were going through a town called "Banana" and passing over a little river called "Turn Back Jimmy Creek"; I swear to god - i kid you not they were the names; It's amazing how bored you get over a 2000km road trip with only your sanity for company; I'm really pleased to hear about you getting back on the list and that you have been transferred to a room on another ward; Hopefully you will be able to rest better now so that you cane make more room for yummy ice cream; I've got to stop thinking about ice cream now - i've got an attack of the munchies - I blame you - haha :)
Anyway just to let you know that I am thinking of you and JK as always and my prayers are with you as you continue this battle; As the guiness advert says, good things come to those that wait;
Be patient, and all will come good;
Loads of lovin' and huggin'

Hello Justine, top of the morning to you, a happy Sunday night and Monday morning to you too,
Sorry for not being in touch for a few days but this town closes down over the weekend; It is rather surreal, you would think a martian invasion was coming; No kids playing anywhere, no shops open, no dogs barking, pubs CLOSED! If it had not been for the local KFC being open I would not have seen a soul on a all my wanderings yesterday!
Glad that you are getting settled on the new ward and that things are moving in the right direction; It is also SO cool that you had the strength for such a long and lovely diary message; Roll on the good times tiger;
I have not been up to much of late, I am still savouring having seen my first (6)duck-billed platypi; Mikey is now travelling to Melbourne so he can visit his family in Tasmania; Funny but I missed not having to wake him up or making our lunchtime sarnies
Still the sun is shining, the sky is blue, & its always great to hear good news from you;
All my love, hugs and thoughts are yours,
Olly

Hi Justine, wondered how you have been as I have not seen you at the gym for a while, sent you a e-mail on your other account and then decided to finally read your diary as I have mentioned to you that one day I will; I was very touch at your experience put in writing and remembered all the chats we had had at the gym; I was very sad to hear that you had taken a turn for the worse but my prays and wishes are with you for a speedy recovery and that you can get your new lungs; I can't wait to see you working out at the gym and one day you can take up the challenge of working out with me and even I may have to do the marthon with you!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY CHUFFED TO BITS that you are back on the transplant list; That is simply AMAZING NEWS!
I am so happy for you Justine - I know it could be a while before the call but this is a massive sign of how well you are doing; I know all the checks and tests they do to see if someone is fit enough for transplantation so you have obviously done very well in your truly inspiring recovery
I can identify so much with your loss Justine; Its one of the worst parts of the whole transplant journey; During my liver transplants I met two girls who I admired greatly and they both died - also was in email contact back in 1996 with a girl awaiting a heart and lung transplant due to cystic fibrosis; She sadly never got the operation; Your friend would want you to fight on and never give up; By living you can spread the message of how important it is that people never end up dying waiting for a transplant; Everyone should be an organ donor - its up to people like you and me to spread that message, I know it is what our friends who died would want;
Dont Give Up

Good Evening Rocky,
I know today is going to be another long day on the road to recovery, especially considering the upsetting news regarding your friend; But I pray that your rock, JK, and your parents can still make you smile (if only for a fleeting moment) on such a sad day;
A nun that used to teach my at junior school and who was an angel (to both me and my family) when I was ill, died soon after my recovery; I was gutted for ages as I thought it to be so totally unjust; Yet I am sure she is watching me and trying to guide me in the right direction; To be a better person and not let myself down having been given my second chance in life; I will pray for your friend when I find a sirene place worthy of her memory;
Keep fighting the good fight tiger because you are truly a lovely, unique, supercalifragilistic young lady; I long for the day when we can wander through a park with JK & the pose, enjoying the sonorous tones of the birds and the wind rustle through the trees; Your friend,
Olly

Hi Justine, so sorry to hear of your friend losing her fight, my thoughts are with her family; I have lost 15 friends on the waiting list now, and each one is heartbreaking as they were a friend, and it is always sad to lose someone you love, but scary too, as it can feel far too close for comfort;
Keep on going, you are doing fantastically well, I have absolutely every faith that you will continue to move forwards; You can do this, and you will get a transplant and be dancing down the isle! ;)
I am still in hosp - have been told my port is infected so am waiting to see the surgeon to see what we have to do;;;but battling all 3 infections well, taking a note out of your book ;)
Take care, stay strong, xx

Fabulous to read your diary entry my lovely, awesome in fact; Has brightened my whole day up; Mikey is off on a cruise for three days (so out of contact for a short while) but I am sure he will be absolutely delighted so I will send you love from the both of us; Well I am off for an early night because I am off to try and find the elusive platypus tomorrow;
Allegedly there is a National Park nearby that David Attenborough spent oodles of time studying them; I have spent hours next to lakes waiting to see one in the wild but to no avail so far;
I hope your progress continues onwards and upwards; Take care and keep smiling kiddo, your one in a quintillion;

DELIGHTED to read your diary entry Justine, I am always delighted when you are able to write; Tueday is another day illuminated by the wonderful signs of recovery you are making; I think the highlight of todays news was the mention of Vanilla Ice Cream - I bet that was the best you ever tasted - I still have fond recollections of a calippo ice lolly during my recovery;
It absolutely makes my day to get any little positive sign you are getting better, so the last few days updates have been simply fantastic;
Everyone who is touched by your prescence in their lives will hopefully pass on the message of how important organ donation is; I can't wait for the day I hear you have had your transplant operation; I plan to do cartwheels across the newsroom here - and Justine, I don't even know how to do them - but I will make the effort when the good news comes
You remind me so much of myself Justine - I never knew when to give in and you don't either; The fighter in you has overcome the most massive obstacles - and the fighter inside Justine Laymond will overcome many more until the ultimate prize, a new life is in your sight;
I wish everyone in life had a little piece of Justine in them - the courage - the creativity - the inspiration - the bravery - you are such a unique person -
So Justine
Keep Smiling
Keep Improving A Little More Every Day
Keep Fighting
and most of all - KEEP being a part of our lives
Now - where's that Vanilla Ice Cream?
