July 2005
There have been many things happening the last few
weeks, best to read Justine's diary to get an insight into anything you
have missed. Justine has had a good month so far, and delighted that
her lung has not collapsed!
1 July 2005
Justine is in good spirits today and just hoping her lung does not
collapse over the next week.
Justine had a TV/DVD
player provided yesterday and this morning Aerial contractors connected
an aerial.
Her broadband line was also installed this afternoon.
She is enjoying wearing her new shoes. A different
pair every day!!!
A family session was held during the afternoon with a therapist.
27
June 2005
Justine has been taken out this
afternoon. Guess what - she went shopping again!!!
Her new laptop has arrived thanks to EDRS and is being
set up.
The wheelchair suppliers engineer fitted the portable
oxygen carrier.
26 June 2005
The was day of the Big Run in Trent Park, Cockfosters, Herts.
Seen running for Justine in the Esporta Team:-
Claire, Paul, Stacey and Nikki.
Others included Spencer (in spite if his night out), Chewbacca of
Star Wars Fame (aka Jon) and David, Jon's younger brother.
Justine managed to get to the park to see all the
runners and cheer them on at the finish.
Apologies to anybody not seen. A full report
and some
pictures of the events will be added to site soon.
As Justine was exhausted no diary entries were added over this
weekend
but she may have one in next day or so.
Justine wants to thank everybody who has helped or donated this
weekend.
25 June 2005
Justine
was taken out (shopping again!) and for lunch by friends and went
briefly to a party in the evening.
London Gig run tonight jointly to raise
funds for Justine and Cancer Research UK.

Justine had a counseling session today. Had her hair cut and
coloured - yes you guessed it has had red streaks added.
Photo
will be posted soon.
22
June 2005
A new wheelchair was delivered today but
the suppliers omitted the oxygen carrier. They will send an
engineer to add this next Monday.
She also had her first shopping spree - see diary entry for day.
21 June
2005
Justine has her first short trip out.
20
June 2005
Justine had the stitches removed (the stitches were needed following
removal of the drain pipes used to help re-inflate her lung) and she is
mainly resting.
16 June
2005
Following further X-Rays
Justine has now returned home.
Justine
woke up this morning feeling depressed but is now reading all her
emails and guest book messages and starting to smile again.
14
June 2005
Justine is still at Harefield and the good news is they have now
removed the chest drain. However, they still want to carry out
further X-Rays tomorrow to make sure all is 100% before she is allowed
to go home.
13 June
2005
Justine
is in high spirits. The chest drain is still inserted but the
suction pump pipe has been removed. Harefield will carry out
further X-rays and tests on tomorrow and Justine is hopeful that
she will be able to return home in the next few days.
11 June 2005
Justine is feeling better but still in pain. The chest drain is
still inserted. Harefield will carry out further X-rays and tests
on Monday 13 June 2005 to see if the lung is healed and not leaking.
If all is okay Justine hopes she will be able to return home soon
after that.

Justine was delighted with the BBC TV news piece on 9 June 2005, and
has confirmed that she is now contemplating dyeing her hair pink again
(ha ha!) [Justine's giggle], but on a serious note she would like to
let everyone know she is very thankful for all the messages, and can't
wait to come home to personally respond to each and everyone.
Justine was
also featured in this weeks edition of the JC.

Harefield inform
that Justine managed to get some sleep overnight and she was more
comfortable and she is able to breathe a little more following the
insertion of the chest drain (no. 5).
Justine
just managed so say that "she now has her 5th 'Fred'
" , 'Fred' is the nickname she has given the chest drain containers.
(She is referring to the fifth time she has had to have a chest
drain inserted).
Each time this is done the risk of infection is ever present
which is why that is only being done as a last resort.
6 June 2005
10.25 p.m. We were informed by Harefield that after
Justine arrived with them yesterday evening and tests and X-Rays were
carried out that she had in fact suffered a significant pneumothorax.
She was unable to breath and in severe pain. An operation
was carried out to insert a chest drain to relieve the pain
and enable her to breath again. She was sedated to allow her to
rest through the night.
1.10 p.m. We were informed
by Chase Farm that Justine was to be transfered to Harefield Hospital
that afternoon.
9.30 a.m. We were informed
that Justine had suffered a pneumothorax (lung collapse) early that
morning and she was in severe pain. She had been seen by senior
consultants at Chase Farm Hospital who discussed her condition with
Harefield Hospital.
4
June 2005 - Justine
back in Hospital
Chase Farm Hospital after consultation with Harefield Hospital kept
Justine at Chase Farm under observation and a further decision
will be made on Monday.
3 June 2005
Justine was
admitted to Chase Farm Hospital in the morning by ambulance with
severe chest pain.
It was thought some cysts on her lung may have burst-
alternatively that her lung may have collapsed. After being
admitted she was sent home at 16.45 as all the tests, X-rays etc
carried out were satisfactory. 5 minutes after getting home she
was in severe pain and unable to move and was rushed by Ambulance back
to Chase Farm Hospital and re-admitted.
24 May 2005
The British
Lung Foundation feature Justine in their news section on their
webite.
17 May 2005
2.15 p.m. The dental check up
carried out today confirms that quote 'Justine has a perfect set of
teeth' and this has been confirmed to Harefield.
This was one of the last check
ups today as Harefield require all her teeth and gums to be checked to
make sure no infection or problems exist as the drugs used after a lung
could aggravate any dental problems.
12.45 p.m. Justine's case has
been dealt with and Harefield have just confirmed that she has been
placed on the lung transplant list after her case notes were reviewed
by the clinical director. She will receive either a double lung or
single whatever is available on the night of the procedure.
Justine is delighted at the news.
15 May 2005
Justine was assessed compatible for a lung transplant.
However, we were awaiting confirmation from the Brompton
Trust Clinical Director as to whether or not he will add Justine to the
National Lung Transplant database. Harefield have done
1 transplant in last 4 years for a patient with LAM.

friends’,
family, business colleagues, clients and friends and
Justine’s
friends to pray for Justine and also to establish other initiatives.
Justine's lung collapsed
again and she was admitted to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford and a
chest drain was inserted. The Broomfield Hospital then transfered
Justine tothe Harefield Hospital.

Justine was admitted to Chase Farm Hospital Enfield
after a sudden collapsed lung.
